I’ve been in college for a few weeks now and am pretty much settled in to the university way of life. My sleeping hours have shifted, I spend a lot of time on homework, and can eat whatever I want. Life as a college student is great! Here are some observations I’ve had recently on college life:
Staying organized is important. My first few weeks, I found that I was forgetting things and now I have a serious filing system in real life and on my computer. I dedicate some time each day to making sure I am organized so I can find things I need the next day.
I have generally stopped procrastinating. As the king of procrastination in high school, this surprised me. The quicker I finish my homework, the quicker I can move on to fun things. One week, I locked myself in my room the whole week so I could get far enough ahead in my classes that I could go to Yosemite and not worry about working.
The workload doesn’t seem as big as it is. Sure, I will sometimes spend five hours a day on homework but that is what college is. Looking back, I will think, “Damn, I read 150 pages yesterday”, but I have not really minded it while I have been working.
