Google.Cn Censorship

As you might know, Google recently launched a Chinese version of their search engine. This new site offers all of the fun benefits of the original but with censored results. I, being interested in both media censorship and China, decided to test how well these filters work. I’m working brushing up on my Mandarin skills this semester so all of the testing was done with the image search. Wikipedia was my inspiration for all of these searches (and the picture on the right inspired the tests).

Some of the terms, like ‘Dalai Lama’, require cr=countryCN in the URL. Others, such as ‘Falun Gong’, return censored results regardless.
